Medical Student, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Anish Kumar is a visiting medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He received his BA in Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh.

Prior to medical studies, he worked as a computational linguist and data scientist which led to a natural interest in the application of natural language processing (NLP) and other artificial intelligence methods to clinical applications. 

He is currently serving on the Mount Sinai Hospital clinical ethics committee and is a participant in the health system’s AI Governance Committee. He is interested in the ethics surrounding deployment of artificial intelligence tools in clinical workflows, with particular attention towards issues of fairness and responsibility.
