Postdoctoral Researcher
Ethox Centre, Nuffield Department of Population Health, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford
Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.
Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral Researcher to join the Fakes, fabrications and falsehoods in global health project team led by Dr Patricia Kingori, Associate Professor in Global Health Ethics. This research project seeks to understand how uncertainty and ambiguity about the authenticity of products and activities across a vast array of institutions, actors and locations are reconciled in practice. It will also investigate the moral paradoxes associated with such uncertainty.
The Nuffield Department of Population Health contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, the Ethox Centre is an internationally recognised multidisciplinary bioethics research centre and is a vibrant and intellectually exciting place to work. The Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities responds to a pressing need for ethics and humanities research on the challenges presented by scientific and technological advances.
To be considered you will hold a PhD or DPhil in Sociology, Anthropology, Philosophy or a humanities discipline and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. You will also have the ability to work independently and manage your own academic research, along with associated activities, and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation. Excellent communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and to represent the research group at meetings are also key to this role.
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Mary Foulkes (mary.foulkes@ethox.ox.ac.uk).
The position is full time (although part time will be considered) and fixed term for 2 years.
