Embedded ethics support in the BDI

Ethics support in the BDI is provided by the ETHOX Centre, which is a multidisciplinary ethics research centre housed on the first floor of the BDI. Ethox specialises in working with scientists to identify and address practical ethical issues arising in their research.

Ethics support can be accessed in the following ways:

  • Or support can be provided through the Big Data Ethics Forum (BDE Forum), which  is an innovative approach to the identification of ethical issues in the day-to-day practice of big data research. The BDE Forum will provide a regular opportunity for scientists working in the BDI to discuss practical ethical problems arising in the development and conduct of their research and an opportunity for the sharing of models of good practice. The BDE Forum will inform the development of a research programme in big data ethics and will be evaluated as a model of embedded ethics support. Bi monthly meetings will be advertised in the BDI newsletter.
