Vittoria Porta
Visiting Student
March - June 2022
Vittoria Porta is a senior Master's Degree student at the University of Milan (Italy) and received her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2019 discussing her thesis in statistics on Machine Learning and Predictive Policing: Statistical Methods to Prevent Urban Crimes. Her main interests are in privacy regulation, Big Data governance, and the ethics of new technologies.
Her current research examines the artificial intelligence models applied to pathogen tracking, investing in the legal and ethical implications. It focuses on understanding documents, structures, legal, political, and governance principles currently in place to support the open data platforms used to predict pathogen mutations and track pathogen spread.
This project aims to identify the ways the introduction of new technologies may challenge existing ethical principles.
