Role Description

The person appointed will assist Prof. Maureen Kelley to conduct an online quantitative research survey of researchers engaged in research with vulnerable populations of women and children in international, low-resource settings. Specifically, the person appointed will support the design and validation of the survey, sampling strategy, management of the survey, and analysis. The person appointed would also be encouraged to lead the resulting publications with support. In this context, the role will include:

Quantitative Survey Development Support: Responsibilities include assistance in designing, validating and conducting cognitive testing of the surveys, assistance in developing a sampling and recruitment plan, and participating in conference calls during the survey development period. The survey development will be informed by substantial qualitative data from three international sites which will be summarised for the analyst.

Data Management and Programming: Responsible for programming and monitoring the online survey to be administered across several global health research networks and to manage the survey data.

Quantitative Data Analysis and write-up: To conduct the statistical queries of the survey data and lead the write-up and publications out of the survey.

Essential Criteria

• Hold a PhD/DPhil or be in the final stages of a PhD/DPhil in social sciences, population health or related disciplines
• Have proven experience with quantitative survey design and analysis
• Ability to manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
• Ability to assimilate information efficiently and accurately
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent English writing skills

Optional but helpful

• Have an interest in bioethics
• Have some experience and familiarity developing surveys from prior qualitative data
