Julia König is working as a physician at the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) at the University hospital Heidelberg and as a researcher at the Institute of Data and Medical Ethics at the University of Heidelberg.

Her research interests concern issues of distributive justice, patient welfare and autonomy in health care and cancer medicine. The projects she worked on examined how financial considerations and reimbursement strategies influence patient welfare and allocation in cancer medicine and on the normative dimension of novel payment models for gene therapy. As a clinician she also examined how to foster patient autonomy by implementing advanced directives are into cancer medicine.
