Rubén Vega Pérez

Medical Student, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Rubén is a graduating 4th year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Next year, he will be pursuing residency training in Family Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He grew up in the San Diego-Tijuana bi-national metropolitan area and he is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese. He completed a BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale University, where he was a national finalist for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship and awarded the DuPuy Graduation Prize for Scholarship. He also holds an MPH in Health Policy and Global Health from Yale. As a medical student, he has served on the Ethics Committee of the Medical Board at The Mount Sinai Hospital and led the Medical Ethics Student Organization. His research interests include racial and socioeconomic health disparities, distributive health justice, and the ethics of emerging clinical tools and medical technologies.”
